The basics
LED light therapy is a non-invasive, non-exfoliating treatment that exposes the skin to specific wavelengths of therapeutic light.
Our Elipsa LED system allows us to incorporate light therapy into customized face and body treatments without physically resurfacing the skin.
The technique
Different wavelengths of light interact with the skin differently.
Depending on your treatment goals, appropriate wavelengths may be selected to support processes associated with acne management, inflammation, skin recovery, and visible signs of aging.
Unlike UV light, professional skincare LED treatments do not work by tanning the skin.
The experience
LED is one of our most comfortable modalities.
You’ll relax beneath bright therapeutic light while wearing appropriate eye protection.
There is no scraping, suction, needling, or exfoliation involved.
Concerns
Depending on the wavelength selected, LED may be incorporated for:
Where we use it
LED isn’t limited to facial treatments.
Our approach
LED can complement many different treatment plans because it doesn’t rely on exfoliating the skin.
We may incorporate it after certain treatment steps or use it when the skin would benefit from a supportive modality without adding additional exfoliation.
The wavelength, treatment time, and frequency are selected according to your skin and goals.
Candidacy
Photosensitivity, certain medications or supplements that increase light sensitivity, certain medical or eye conditions, seizure disorders triggered by light, and other health considerations may affect candidacy.
We’ll review relevant contraindications before treatment and use appropriate eye protection.
Afterward
LED itself generally requires no downtime.
Most clients can return to their normal activities immediately.
Your aftercare will depend primarily on the other treatments performed during your appointment.
Frequency
LED can be beneficial as a single supportive treatment, but many goals benefit from consistent sessions over time.
It may therefore be incorporated regularly into a treatment series, corrective package, or maintenance routine.
Your recommended frequency will depend on your skin and treatment goals.
