Brow Aftercare 101

Beautiful Brows Don’t Stop at the Appointment.

Your brows have been professionally shaped and treated to complement your features, preferences and lifestyle. Proper aftercare helps protect the surrounding skin, condition your brow hairs and keep your results looking their best between appointments.

Because your service may include brow lamination, tinting, mapping, shaping and waxing, your exact aftercare depends on what was performed.

Always follow any personalized instructions provided by your brow artist.

Day one

Immediately After Your Service

Your brows are freshly treated and the surrounding skin may be temporarily more sensitive.

You May Notice

  • Mild redness around the brows
  • Slight warmth or sensitivity after waxing
  • Temporary tenderness
  • Minor redness around freshly waxed follicles
  • Brows appearing darker or more defined immediately after tinting
  • Laminated hairs appearing especially sleek, lifted or structured immediately after treatment
  • Slight sensitivity of the brow hairs following lamination

These effects should gradually settle.

For the rest of today:

Do

  • Keep your brows clean and untouched as much as possible.
  • Allow freshly laminated brows to remain in their set position.
  • Brush your brows gently only as directed.
  • Keep the surrounding skin calm and protected.
  • Use only recommended post-treatment products.
  • Keep freshly waxed skin protected from unnecessary sun exposure.

Avoid

  • Rubbing, scratching or repeatedly touching your brows
  • Picking at freshly waxed skin
  • Applying strong skincare actives directly around the brows
  • Scrubs or exfoliating devices around freshly waxed skin
  • Heavy brow makeup immediately after treatment
  • Applying unapproved oils, creams or active products immediately following lamination

The first two days

For the Next 24–48 Hours

If You Received Brow Lamination

For approximately the first 24 hours, or according to the specific lamination system used during your service:

  • Avoid excessive moisture or prolonged water exposure
  • Avoid steam and saunas
  • Avoid very hot showers directly on the brows
  • Avoid intense exercise that causes excessive sweating around the brows
  • Avoid swimming
  • Avoid rubbing or sleeping directly against the brows when possible
  • Avoid applying heavy skincare or makeup directly over the brows
  • Avoid exfoliating products around the brow area

After this initial setting period, your brows can return to normal daily cleansing and styling.

If You Received Brow Tint

For the first 24 hours:

  • Avoid excessive rubbing or cleansing directly over the brows.
  • Avoid exfoliating acids and retinoids around the brow area.
  • Avoid prolonged swimming, steam or activities that may cause premature fading.
  • Avoid oil-heavy cleansing directly over the brows when possible.

Your tint may look slightly darker immediately after your appointment and soften over the following days.

If You Received Brow Waxing

For approximately 24–48 hours, avoid:

  • Retinoids around the waxed area
  • AHAs, BHAs and exfoliating acids
  • Physical scrubs
  • Strong acne treatments
  • Exfoliating brushes or devices
  • Saunas and steam rooms
  • Hot tubs
  • Excessive heat
  • Intense exercise or excessive sweating if the skin remains irritated
  • Swimming if the skin remains sensitive
  • Tanning
  • Prolonged direct sun exposure
  • Heavily fragranced or potentially irritating products
  • Picking or scratching the freshly waxed area

Whenever possible, avoid applying makeup directly over freshly waxed skin until the redness and sensitivity have settled.

The first week

For the Next 5–7 Days

Your surrounding skin should gradually return to its normal routine while your brow hairs settle into their finished result.

Skincare Actives

Once the waxed skin is completely calm—with no redness, tenderness, burning, peeling or sensitivity—you can gradually return to your regular skincare routine around the brows.

Be cautious with:

  • Retinoids
  • AHAs/BHAs
  • Exfoliating toners
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Physical exfoliants
  • Strong corrective treatments

Do not apply these directly to irritated or recently compromised skin.

Brow Lamination Care

After the initial settling period, hydration and conditioning become an important part of maintaining laminated brows.

Use your recommended brow-conditioning product as directed to help keep the hairs soft and manageable.

Gently brush the brows into your preferred position with a clean spoolie.

Avoid aggressively brushing, pulling or repeatedly manipulating the hairs.

Tint Care

Tint naturally fades over time.

To help maintain your color:

  • Avoid aggressive exfoliation directly over the brows.
  • Be mindful that frequent use of exfoliating skincare around the brow area can contribute to faster fading.
  • Avoid excessive rubbing.
  • Keep the brow hairs conditioned.

No need to worry

What’s Normal?

Depending on the services performed, it can be normal to experience:

  • Mild temporary redness after waxing
  • Slight tenderness around freshly waxed follicles
  • Minor sensitivity of the surrounding skin
  • Brows appearing darker immediately after tinting
  • Tint gradually softening over the first several days
  • Laminated brows appearing very sleek or structured immediately after treatment
  • Brow hairs settling into a softer appearance after the first wash
  • Slight differences in how individual brow hairs naturally sit
  • Gradual fading of tint over time
  • Gradual relaxation of the lamination as the brow hairs complete their natural growth cycle

Your brows should remain comfortable and your surrounding skin should progressively calm following treatment.

How to Maintain Your Results

Condition

Laminated brow hairs have undergone a chemical process and benefit from consistent conditioning.

Use your recommended brow-conditioning treatment as directed to help maintain soft, manageable-looking hairs.

Brush

Once the initial setting period has passed, use a clean spoolie to gently brush your brows into your desired shape each day.

One of the benefits of lamination is flexibility—you can style your brows fluffier, softer or more polished depending on the look you want.

Protect

Be mindful when applying strong exfoliants and retinoids around your brows, especially before and after waxing appointments.

Don’t Over-Process

Brow lamination should not be performed too frequently.

Allow your brow hairs adequate time between chemical services and follow the schedule recommended by your brow artist.

Maintain Your Shape

Avoid excessive tweezing between appointments.

If you see an obvious stray hair outside your established brow shape, occasional tweezing may be appropriate, but leave major reshaping to your brow artist.

This helps us maintain the symmetry and shape created during your professional mapping.

When Should I Book Again?

Different parts of your brow service have different maintenance timelines.

Brow Lamination

A brow lamination typically lasts approximately 6–8 weeks, depending on your natural hair growth cycle, home care and individual brow hairs.

For the health of your brow hairs, we generally recommend waiting approximately 6–8 weeks before repeating your lamination, or longer if your brow artist determines your hairs need additional time.

Brow Tint

Tint results typically fade sooner than lamination and can be refreshed during an appropriate maintenance appointment.

Brow Shape + Wax

Your shape may benefit from maintenance approximately every 3–4 weeks, depending on how quickly your brow hair grows and how polished you prefer your brows to remain.

Your brow artist can create a schedule that keeps your brows maintained without unnecessarily over-processing the hair.
