Aftercare 101

Advanced Body Treatment Aftercare 101

Results That Go Beyond the Treatment Room

Advanced body treatments are designed to target concerns such as congestion, ingrown hairs, uneven texture, discoloration, breakouts, stretch marks, and overall skin quality on areas beyond the face.

Depending on your treatment plan, your service may include professional exfoliation, extractions, chemical peels and advanced modalities. Because these treatments can temporarily increase skin sensitivity, proper aftercare is an important part of achieving the best possible results.

Always follow the personalized aftercare provided by your esthetician. If multiple modalities were performed, follow the most restrictive aftercare instructions given.

You may notice:

  • Mild redness or pinkness
  • Warmth
  • Slight tenderness
  • Temporary sensitivity
  • Mild tightness or dryness
  • Redness around extracted follicles
  • A smoother or more polished appearance
  • Mild sensitivity from friction or clothing

For the rest of today:

Do

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry unless instructed otherwise.
  • Leave post-treatment products on the skin as directed.
  • Wear clean, loose and breathable clothing over the treated area.
  • Minimize unnecessary touching.
  • Keep the skin hydrated with approved products.
  • Protect exposed treated areas from direct sun.

  • Retinoids, acids or other strong active ingredients
  • Shaving or other hair removal unless specifically approved
  • Applying unnecessary products to freshly treated skin

Days one & two

For the Next 24–48 Hours

Give your skin time to settle.

Avoid:

  • Intense exercise and excessive sweating
  • Saunas and steam rooms
  • Hot tubs
  • Very hot showers or baths
  • Swimming in pools, lakes or oceans
  • Prolonged sun exposure
  • Tanning beds
  • Tight clothing over the treated area
  • Excessive friction or rubbing
  • Scrubs, exfoliating gloves, loofahs or dry brushing
  • Retinoids
  • AHAs, BHAs or other exfoliating acids
  • Benzoyl peroxide unless specifically directed
  • At-home chemical peels
  • Strong fragranced products
  • Self-tanner on the treated area
  • Waxing or depilatory creams
  • Shaving if the area remains irritated or sensitive

For intimate-area treatments, also avoid activities that create significant friction, heat or sweating against freshly treated skin until the area feels calm and comfortable.

The week ahead

For the Next 5–7 Days

Continue treating your skin gently as it recovers.

Keep your routine simple:

Cleanse. Hydrate. Moisturize. Protect.

Depending on the treatment performed, you may notice some dryness or light flaking during this period.

Never pick, peel or scrub away flaking skin.

When Can I Restart Exfoliation and Active Products?

Products such as:

  • Retinoids
  • AHAs/BHAs
  • Exfoliating body treatments
  • Physical scrubs
  • Acne treatments
  • Brightening/corrective actives
  • Ingrown-hair treatments containing exfoliating acids

should only be gradually reintroduced once the treated skin has returned to its normal baseline with no active peeling, unusual redness, burning, tenderness or sensitivity.

For many superficial treatments, this may be around 5–7 days, but more intensive resurfacing or chemical exfoliation may require a longer pause.

Follow the personalized timeline provided by your esthetician.

Hair Removal

Do not wax or use depilatory creams over recovering skin.

Shaving may be resumed once the skin is calm, intact and no longer sensitive, unless you were instructed to wait longer.

If you’re scheduled for waxing, laser hair removal or another professional hair-removal service, ask your provider how long you should wait based on the treatment you received.

Know what to expect

What’s Normal?

Your response will vary depending on the area treated and modalities performed.

It can be normal to experience:

  • Temporary redness
  • Mild warmth
  • Mild tenderness
  • Slight sensitivity
  • Temporary tightness
  • Dryness
  • Mild flaking following exfoliation
  • Redness around extracted follicles
  • Temporary sensitivity to friction
  • Slightly more noticeable pigmentation before superficial shedding after certain exfoliating treatments
  • Little to no visible peeling after some chemical exfoliation

Areas that experience regular friction—such as the bikini line, thighs, buttocks or underarms—may feel more sensitive immediately following treatment.

Your skin should generally become more comfortable over time, not progressively more uncomfortable.

Between treatments

How to Maintain Your Results

Advanced body treatments work best when professional care and consistent home care work together.

Keep the Skin Clean

Use a gentle cleanser appropriate for the treatment area.

Stay Hydrated

Apply an appropriate body moisturizer or hydrating treatment regularly to support the skin barrier.

Exfoliate Intentionally

Once your skin has completely recovered and your esthetician has cleared you to resume exfoliation, use the recommended exfoliating products at the appropriate frequency.

More exfoliation does not mean faster results.

Over-exfoliation can compromise the skin barrier and work against the progress we’re trying to achieve.

Manage Ingrown Hairs Correctly

Avoid digging, picking or squeezing ingrown hairs.

Use your recommended ingrown-hair products consistently once you’re cleared to restart them.

Minimize Friction

Breathable clothing and reducing repetitive friction can be especially helpful for areas prone to ingrown hairs, irritation and discoloration.

Protect Exposed Skin

Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ on treated areas exposed to daylight and reapply regularly. Consistent sun protection is especially important when addressing discoloration.

Follow Your Treatment Plan

Concerns such as persistent ingrown hairs, body acne, discoloration and uneven texture generally require consistency rather than one aggressive treatment.

Home care

Recommended Products

Your home-care recommendations will depend on the area treated, your skin and what we’re working to improve.

When Should I Book Again?

Your ideal treatment schedule depends on the concern we’re addressing and the intensity of your treatment.

For general maintenance, treatments may be spaced approximately every 4–6 weeks.

Clients working toward more persistent concerns such as:

  • Recurring ingrown hairs
  • Body acne or congestion
  • Post-inflammatory discoloration
  • Uneven-looking tone
  • Rough or uneven texture
  • Chronic follicular congestion

may benefit from a structured corrective treatment series.

Your esthetician will recommend the appropriate interval based on your skin’s response and treatment plan.

Treatment packages

Results Are Built With Consistency

One Treatment Starts the Process. A Series Builds On It.

Advanced body concerns typically develop over time—and meaningful improvement often takes time too.

Rather than treating each appointment as an isolated service, our body treatment packages allow us to create a progressive plan based on your skin and goals.

Packages are ideal for clients working toward concerns such as:

  • Ingrown hairs
  • Body breakouts
  • Congestion
  • Uneven texture
  • Stretch marks
  • Scarring
  • Post-breakout marks
  • Uneven-looking pigmentation
  • Overall smoother, clearer-looking skin

Why Choose a Package?

A structured treatment series allows us to:

  • Maintain consistent treatment intervals
  • Build upon previous treatments
  • Adjust treatment intensity as your skin progresses
  • Track your skin’s response
  • Combine professional treatment with intentional home care
  • Work toward long-term improvement rather than temporary results
